Manuel Marlo is a young producer, only 28 years old, from the Amazonas region of Northern Peru. Alongside the coffee plants on his farm, Finca Pacpa, including Gesha and Pacamara varietals, he grows corn, cassava, and other food crops. Manuel learned to grow coffee from his parents and has continued to develop ways to improve the quality of his coffees as he's become more interested in the specialty market.

To source this coffee we worked with our importing partners and Collective Bean of Peru. Collective Bean operates out of several regions of the country, working to connect producers in the remote Peruvian mountains with buyers like us. The four pillars of their business- transparency, flexibility, collectivity, and shared knowledge- align closely with ours and ensure a traceable product and a partnership built on trust. Through their work, they improve the livelihoods of farmers, providing them with the support to sustain and improve their production and helping them reach international markets.

It takes many hands to get a micro-lot like this into the hands of a roasting company. We are honored and excited to showcase Manuel's hard work and all the relationships along the value chain in this balanced, sweet pacamara lot. We find it approachable yet complex- perfect for all brew methods. Dial into notes of apricot, cola, and hibiscus by starting with a 1:16 brew ratio, filtered water at 209-210F, a medium grind, and a 3-3.5 minute brew cycle.
