Climate Project
Roast Level 3 - Medium

10% of proceeds go to projects at origin to help adapt to climate change

Sweet, balanced coffee roasted for all purpose brewing

In order to keep creating and drinking the best coffee in the world, we work to ensure our partners and buying decisions support a viable future for the specialty coffee industry. Researchers have found that the coffee sector is about 20 to 30 years behind other agricultural industries in sustainability research and conservation efforts. Climate Project is a single origin medium roast coffee that donates 10% of proceeds to partners and projects at origin that help producers adapt to changing climate.

This year we are partnering with our exporting partner Los Volcanes. They work with coffee producers in Brazil and Guatemala to create quality by increasing productivity at farm level and establishing long term relationships. Their mission: Our work consists in identifying the key elements unique to each coffee producing area to maximize the flavor and productivity potential. Our team then proceeds to implement programs that will help the producers have a better understanding of their growing conditions and processing methods. These programs are based in the interaction people have with plants and soil in order to build a balanced and healthy environment. The results are measured in our ability to replicate quality year after year and sustain long term relationships with our coffee roasters around the world.

Proceeds from this coffee are going to provide high tech weathervane devices, called Arable, Arable gives real-time weather and crop management data.  The outputs provide the Los Volcanes producers and agronomists a foundation to build smarter operations. Weather patterns have been changing year to. year and become very unpredictable. Arable allows growers to be proactive in the face of risk and uncertainty, by using machine learning hourly to pinpoint precise predictions on weather patterns. It is the only device able to use remote sensors to track periodic plant and animal life cycle events and how these are influenced by seasonal and inter annual variations in climate. This helps stay ahead of pest and disease.

This coffee is ideal for auto-drip and full immersion brews, and as a single origin espresso. Dial-into a sweet cup of brownie batter and roasted almonds with 1:16 brew ratio, filtered water at 205-207℉, a medium grind, and a 3-3.5 minute brew cycle.

Dark Brown

Popular, caramelized brown coffees are big on sweet, dessert-like flavors like semi-sweet chocolate, brownies, and candied nuts.
